Wanola Owens Horne, 90, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2025. She was born in Blackwater, VA to the late Luther and Ethel (Evans) Owens. Wanola spent most of her life in Kingsport, where she cherished time with family and friends. She had deep love for travel and was an avid reader throughout her life. Wanola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. Horne Sr.; sister, Effie Neeley; and brother, Hayward Owens.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah J. Horne Matthias and husband Thomas; sons, Frank E. Horne Jr. and wife Lori, John F. Horne and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Megan Blommel, Matt Matthias, Ashleigh Horne, and Christina Gerdes; five great grandchildren; sister, Maxie McPherson; brothers, Jerry (Shirley) and Carroll (Linda) Owens; along with many cherished nieces and nephews and a host of beloved friends. 

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Wade Childress officiating. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 11am on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the American Legion Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, VA. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am.
