Lifelong Amsterdam resident Linda Mary (Amberger) Covey, 73, passed away on Friday May 16, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on June 4, 1951, to the late Nellie (Blonkowski) and Howard Amberger. She attended St Mary’s Institute and went on to graduate from Bishop Scully High School. She worked in Amsterdam her entire life, having a career at Woolworth and eventually Coleco Industries. Her final employment was through Walmart, where she loved running the register and talking with everyone who came through her line.
Linda was a trusting, giving soul who always found the best in people. She will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Nellie and Howard Amberger. Linda is survived by her children Derak (Christine) Covey, Delana (Michael) Miller, and Charles Covey; stepdaughter Patricia (Jim) Larrabee; 13 grandchildren; along with 8 great-grandchildren.
Linda’s care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 1232 State Highway 5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or online SUPPORT US | MC-SPCA.
