Mary Annette Edwards Terpening, 83, of Tucson AZ, passed on to her eternal home on May 8, 2025, after a short illness. Born on January 3, 1942 to Dorothy Rockwell Edwards and Edward Harold Edwards, she grew up in Esperance NY, and graduated from Duanesburg High School, and Springfield and Skidmore Colleges.

After working at Bausch & Lome in Rochester NY for many years, she ventured across the USA to Tucson AZ, where she was employed by Raytheon Inc until retirement.

Mary was very involved with Desert Skies United Methodist Church, participating in many activities with her fellow congregants. She enjoyed reading, amassing a collection of books enough to start a library, and cheering on her favorite Arizona Wildcats basketball team.

Predeceased by her parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins Harold, Bill, and Helen Edwards, Dianne Hendrickson Hoff and Sylvia LaPorte, Mary leaves behind her cousins Karen Dane (Tom), Charlie LaPorte, Linda Young (late Bob), Kirtland Feuz (Linda), her former husband Abram Terpening, and her dear, cherished friend Candace Parsons.

Mary's family wishes to thank our sister in Christ Candy for her 39 years of friendship with Mary, and her unwavering strength and grace during Mary's last days. We all consider her an integral member of our family.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Desert Skies United Methodist Church, starting at 11:00a. A cremation burial at the Esperance Cemetery in New York, next to her parents and maternal grandparents will be at a later date.

For those so inclined, donations in Mary's memory may be sent to the Esperance Historical Society, 123 Church Street, Esperance, NY 12066, or to Desert Skies United Methodist Church, 3255 N. Houghton Rd., Tucson AZ 85749.

Final arrangements are being handled by Brings Broadway Chapel in Tucson.
