Alice Louise Corfman
August 29, 1929 - April 29, 2025
Alice was born in Aberdeen, WA to Louis and Emma Kaifer on August 29, 1929. She was raised in Aberdeen, WA with her brother Bernard. After graduating from High School, she attended Washington State University where she received her teaching degree in 1951. In the spring of that year, she met the love of her life, Donald F. Corfman.
Don and Alice were married on July 5, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aberdeen, WA. They spent the first year of their long and loving marriage in San Diego where she taught 4th grade. In 1953, they settled in Burien, WA where they began raising their family. In 1960, Don and Alice moved into their home of 56 years in Des Moines, WA.
Along with raising her family of 7 children, she was involved with establishing the library at St. Philomena school. She also ran the Hallmark Department and began purchasing gifts for the family-owned Des Moines Drug Store. The business expanded under her tutelage and in 1972, Alice and Don opened the Burien Hallmark Shop. She successfully ran this business until her retirement in 1996. During her years of retirement, Alice and Don embarked on years of travelling around the globe. Upon Don's passing in 2016, she moved to Judson Park Retirement Home in Des Moines, WA where she spent her final 9 years.
Alice's love and hobbies included her family, volunteer work, genealogy research, gardening, reading and traveling to exotic places around the world to collect innumerable miniature items.
Alice is survived by her seven children: Michael (Sylvia), Carol, Christopher, Kathleen (Mark), Russell (Barbara), Robert and Steven (Victoria). Alice is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 11great grandchildren.
The world has lost a remarkable woman, but heaven has gained a beautiful soul.
