Maria Lisenby, 76, died on May 19, 2025, at her home in Junction City, Oregon.
She was born August 1, 1948, in Tessenei, Eritrea. Maria immigrated to the United States in 1974 and became a U.S. citizen in May 1980.
She married Kenneth Lisenby on June 14, 1975. This year would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary.
From 1985 to 2005, Maria worked at McKenzie Manor nursing home.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Lisenby; her daughter, Kristine Rice; her stepchildren, Mark Lisenby and Michele Clemo; her granddaughter, Madison Lisenby; her sister, Ania Yost; her brother, Costa Constantindis; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Anna Constantindis; her brother, George Constantindis; and her grandson, Colton Rice.
Maria enjoyed reading and crocheting in her younger years. She had a deep appreciation for flowers and once worked pruning roses at Chase Garden, which is why we chose roses for her memorial.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Musgrove Funeral Home, 7305 Main Street, Springfield, Oregon.
Poem
“The Rose”
A flower grows, then fades from view,
Its fragrance lingers, fresh as dew.
In quiet hands, its petals rest—
A life once lived, now laid to rest.
