Dirk Martin Boockmeyer
January 7th, 1971 - March 27th, 2025
Dirk Martin Boockmeyer, 54, passed away peacefully on March 27th, 2025, while on his long-awaited trip back to his motherland of Germany. Born in Germany on January 7th, 1971. He was born to devoted mother, Helga Erika Boockmeyer, and Pastor Father Winfried Gunter Boockmeyer. Growing up, Martin had one oldest brother and 3 older sisters. He was the baby of his family. He grew up happy, fun, adventurous, and surrounded by love. He was fortunate enough to meet his loving wife, Carmen Lucia Boockmeyer, in Germany at the ripe age of 18 years old, and shared what would be the rest of his life with her. Martin's first career was a Certified BMW Mechanic, though he would later pursue other careers and talents, including his time spent working at a flower shop in his early days which helped nurture his love for gardening. Martin became a father at 20 years old and would have a total of 4 daughters. Loreen Patricia, Carol Marlin, Alissa Erika, and Jacqueline Lucia. At the time of his passing, Martin had 5 loving grandchildren, all with whom he had spent many hours. Martin was a very hands-on girl dad and carried the Title with great pride. Martin was known at home to enjoy his time with music in the background, playing board games with the entire family, and spending long nights by a fire. He dedicated a grand portion of his weekends and evenings after work to ensuring a beautiful garden was had for his family to enjoy. He was known during his workdays as "The Sheet Metal Fabricator" of the LowCountry. Known for his expertise in Sheet Metal & Roofing and often recognized to be a devoted hard worker, always willing to lend a helping hand or give construction advice, even during his last days all while receiving Chemo & radiation therapy. The majority of people did not even know he had been battling cancer until his last months. In every country he ever worked, and at any company, the words "intelligent, hardworking, committed, resourceful and dedicated" are always used. He was a vital part of growing multiple other businesses and finally made his own dream come true by opening Metal Tech MFG for himself in 2023, right before being diagnosed with cancer. When he was not hard at work or with his family at home, He enjoyed music & good drinks surrounded by positive friends & and acquaintances. Martin enjoyed the large events, such as travels, holidays, birthdays, World Cup Tournaments - as much as he enjoyed the little day to day moments, such as a good currywurst, drinking Glühwein, or sharing a funny joke with his friends and family. He could truly light up any room with his positive energy and smiling face, always with a joke at the ready. As long as music was playing, he was ready for anything - a love which he instilled in all his children since they were young. Martin had been speaking English, German & Spanish for many years. He had a respect and admiration for all languages and cultures, and you could tell with the way he treated people and tried to keep up with World events. He was always happy to host travelers and invite friends& family to wherever he was residing. Though well traveled - the majority of his life was spent on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina - and he dreamt of living his final years here. Appropriately so, a service will be held at "The Island Funeral Home & Crematory" in his honor on Tuesday, March 27th, marking the 2 month anniversary of his passing. His loving wife, daughters & grandchildren will all be present.
