Dorothy Jean Serna

Dorothy J. Serna, 69, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on May 17th. She was born in Walsenburg, Colorado, but made Colorado Springs her permanent home. Dorothy retired from St. Paul Catholic Church in 2023, where she served as the Office Manager, responsible for the accounting and HR at the parish and the school, for 24 years. Dorothy was married to her loving husband, Oliver J. Serna, US Army retired, for 30 years. She enjoyed her job, spending time with her friends and caring for her dogs.

Dorothy is survived by her brothers, Larry Read and Duane Read, her daughter, Melinda Whitfield, her stepdaughter, Deanna Stanley, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Beulah Read, her husband, OJ Serna, and 3 siblings.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 9 El Pomar Rd., Colorado Springs 80906 on Saturday, June 14th at 10 am. A reception will follow. Dorothy will be buried at Pikes Peak National Cemetery on Drennan Rd in Colorado Springs at a later date.
