Thurbert Dodge

Thurbert Dodge, 95, passed peacefully on June 3, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. in Mesa, Arizona. He was born August 3, 1929, in Safford, Arizona, to Delos and Alice Ann Dodge. He was the fourth youngest of 18 children, and one of the four sets of twins in his family. Thurb led a remarkable life that was characterized by his unwavering commitment to his family, strong work ethic, and deep spiritual faith.
Thurb married his beloved wife, Patsy Hostetter, on March 9, 1949. Together they raised six children: Monte Dodge, Marsha Alverson, Susan Dahlberg, Lori McCaston, Stan Dodge, and Lisa Smith. He is also survived by his sister, Nellie Kearns, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, on July 18, 2016.
His journey through life touched many hearts, leaving behind a legacy that will forever inspire those who had the privilege to know him. Thurb always lent a helping hand to those in need. He devoted countless hours to his family, embracing the roles of dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend.
Thurb’s spirit shone brightly in his community, where he was respected for his hard work, honesty and perseverance. Guided by his unwavering faith, he navigated life’s challenges with grace and imparted this strength to all who knew him.
He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love and inspiration he brought into the lives of so many.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 15 West 1st Avenue, Mesa, Arizona. Interment to follow at the City of Mesa Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Meldrum Mortuary of Mesa, Arizona.
