GERALD PAUL (JERRY) SNAPP

Jerry was born December 12, 1937, in Denver, CO to William (Billy) and Ramelle Snapp.

He attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary and Junior High School and graduated from Cathedral High School (Denver) in 1955.  While in high school Jerry was a member of the Society of American Magician and was named Colorado Magician of the Year in 1951.

Following high school, Jerry attended Hollywood Beauty College in Denver and was a cosmetologist at Joslins, May Company on 16th Street in Denver and Fred Lee's Salon in Cherry Creek.

In 1958 Jerry attended Pueblo State College earning an A.A. degree, then enrolling at Colorado State College (now University of Northern Colorado) earning both B.A. and M.A. degrees in education. During the decade of the 1960's Jerry traveled to nine countries to enhance his background for the teaching of social studies and world history.

Jerry taught public school grades 6th, middle school, high school with an emphasis on social studies and Junior College (cosmetology). During the summer Jerry volunteered his services for City of Greeley, Weld County, Ft. Lupton, Eaton and Ault for over 35 years.

In 1960 Jerry married Ardith Frazer and they welcomed Sandra Elaine (now Eckert) in 1961.

From 1968 to 1970 Jerry was the principal of Fairplay Elementary School.

In 1971 Jerry married Mary Freitag in Greeley.  They have enjoyed over half of century together.

In 1973 Jerry opened Avant Garde Photography Studio specializing in portraiture and wedding photography.  This was a most exciting and fulfilling career to culminate a working life.

Having performed as a magician and musician, teaching for many years and serving his community while meeting a great many interesting people created a varied and fulfilling life for Jerry.

Jerry left this world with a wealth of stories and experiences which he enjoyed sharing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Freitag Snapp, and daughter, Sandra Eckert (spouse Steve).

A private family service will be held in Denver at a later date.
