Ira Alan Finkelstein
June 23rd, 1948 - June 17th, 2025
Ira A. Finkelstein, 76, passed away on June 17, 2025, just days before his 77th birthday. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Ira lived a life defined by dedication to service, love for his family, and a sharp sense of humor.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force before earning his associate’s degree from the New York Institute of Technology. Ira went on to serve the City of New York as a Correction Captain with the New York City Department of Correction, working at Rikers Island until his retirement.
In 1993, Ira relocated from Ronkonkoma, New York, to Florida, where he continued building a life centered around his family. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Murphy; his daughters, Janine Pfersching and Alyson Muse; his sons-in-law, Thomas Pfersching and Wayne Muse; and his stepdaughters, Kelly and Sara Gonsalves. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Skylar Muse, Michael Pfersching, Payton Muse, and Tyler Pfersching.
Ira was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Finkelstein; his parents, Harry and Roslyn; and his brother, Stan.
He will be remembered most for the love he had for his family, especially his grandchildren, and the laughter he brought to every room. He loved cruising and found great joy in travel and spending time with those closest to him.
A wake will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home and Crematory in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
