Billy Kennedy Farris

Billy Kennedy Farris, passed away on June 22, 2025, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. One of seven children, he was born in Maury County, Tennessee on September 20, 1934, to Herbert Henry Farris, Sr. and Josephine Olivia Farris (Kennedy).

Bill attended Austin Peay University and American University. He met his wife, Carolyn, in Washington D.C. They both briefly moved to Southern California where they were married on Valentines Day 1962. They then moved to Northern Virginia where Bill built a career as a management consultant working for several firms in the Washington D.C. area.

Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, granddad and as a dedicated provider and councilor to his family. He had great love for Lake Anna, Virginia where he and Carolyn spent much of their retirement and hosted a stream of visiting family and friends.  He was a consistent fan for the underdog in all sports.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carolyn Farris; his sons, Joel Farris and Kevin (Anna) Farris; his daughter, Lisa (James) Verderber, and grandchildren; Jackson Farris, Colin Farris, and Jeffrey Farris. He was predeceased by his son, Derek Glen Farris; sisters, Ruth (Lynwood, deceased) Tart and Linda (Joe, deceased) Bell; and his brothers, Clyde (Sara) Farris, Herbert (Lynn) Farris, James Farris, and Glenn Farris.

He will be inurned at a later date in their family section of Old Well Cemetery, Kettle Mills, Tennessee.
