Kay attended Shamrock High School and then attended the International Beauty School. She relocated to South Carolina and in 1967, she married Clinton Ray Rikard.

Kay was active in the local Crimewatch and volunteered for many local events, including the Gaston Collard Festival and served on Sheriff Jimmy Metts advisory board. She also served a term on the Gaston Town Council and remained dedicated to Gaston until she couldn’t any longer.

Kay lost her husband four years ago, and is survived by two children, Dana Rae Rikard and Aaron Rikard, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all whom she loved very much.

Dana would like to extend a very special thank you to all the nurses, doctors, aids, family and friends who have been with her mother through all the years and supported her.

Kay's final wishes were to not have a formal service but wanted everyone to remember her the way she was with a smile in their hearts.
