Barbara "Bunny" Ortiz
June 25th, 1949 - June 30th, 2025
Barbara Marie Ortiz, “Bunny”, 76, of St. Petersburg, Fl, passed away on June 30th, 2025, peacefully in her sleep. Barbara’s son and wife were honored to have her in their home the last few months as she quickly succumbed to brain cancer. She had a dignified departure from this world into the arms of the Lord, and of course the arms of her Jimmy.
Barbara was born in Queens, NY, on June 25th, 1949. Daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Pacuk. Barbara was married to the love of her life James “Jimmy” Ortiz for over 45 years until he passed away, also from brain cancer, in 2015. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer, son Jimmy (Jenny), grandchildren, Alexandra (Arthur), Nick (Taylor), Josh, Ryan, Rocco, Ellie (Hunter), and great grandsons, Atticus and Riley, and of course her beloved dogs, Jasmine and Chica. Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
She also enjoyed cruising and dancing with her late husband, spending time with family and friends, playing games with her grandchildren, and she ALWAYS devoted herself to Jesus. Barbara had a contagious laugh, and even with death approaching, she found the humor in life. She could make the most tragic and sad situations full of laughter, in between the tears. Her favorite saying the last few months was, “It is what it is” followed by her husband’s favorite phrase during his final months, “Unf****enbelievable.” In memory and agreement with his phrase, the only tattoo she would get in life was done on her beautiful hand, UFB.
She is predeceased by siblings, Richard, John, and Carol. All of whom she loved dearly.
Everyone who knew Barbara was blessed to know her. She made everyone around her feel loved and welcome. Please feel welcome to attend her celebration of life and memorial. Services will be held on August 1, 2025. Visitation will begin at 4pm and the service will begin at 5pm.
