John "Ken" Kenneth Wright, III
April 26th, 1943 - July 16th, 2025
John Kenneth Wright III
John Kenneth Wright lll passed away peacefully at home on July 16th, 2025 in St Petersburg, FL with his loving companion Mike Collins by his side after a prolonged struggle with declining health. Ken was born in Pittsburgh PA and attended North Hills High School and The Pittsburgh Art Institute. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Dorothy Donia and John Wright Jr, wife Margaret Kilmer, and partner Anthony Shoto. He is survived by his partner of 26+ years Mike Collins, daughter Stephanie (Jack) Yocca, brother Anthony Donia, Grandsons Alex (Caitlin), Michael (Casandra), Matthew Parrish, and Brad Yocca, Great-Granddaughters Nora and Molly Parrish, and Great-Grandson Thomas Carlos Parrish. Ken was an extremely successful businessman that cofounded Vance Wright Adams Graphic Design Company with one of his more famous accomplishments being the design of the 1980’s Stanley Cup winning Pittsburgh Penguins logo. Early in his career he briefly settled in Miami with his wife Peggy and wrote for the Miami Herald. He was a talented artist who enjoyed painting well into his later years. After retiring in 2012, Ken settled in St Petersburg, FL with his partner Mike. As much as Ken embraced his quintessential Pittsburgh heritage, he also traveled the country and the world. He was an avid snow skier and was impressively photographed skiing in front of the Matterhorn in Switzerland. He and Mike traveled extensively over the years with several trips to Europe, South America and much of America. He so loved a good laugh, time with family and friends, and he dearly loved his daughter Stephanie, whom he affectionately referred to as “Nini”. Some of the brightest memories of years past are his telling and retelling of dozens of funny stories about family and friends, belly laughing over countless dinners together. He truly cherished those memories. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
