Clark Legacy Center - Nicholasville
Gordon Frederick Rogers
May 25th, 1929 - July 28th, 2025
Gordon Frederick Rogers (96) passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025 in Wilmore, KY. He is survived by sons Rick (Karen) Rogers of Columbus, OH, and Jeff (Leeanne) Rogers of Lexington, KY, grandchildren Erica (Pairrish) Cowans, Andrew (Laura) Rogers, Melissa (Nick) Brettingen, Emily Rogers, Ellie (Austin) Church, Ben Rogers, Annie Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers, Aaron Rogers and five great grandchildren.
Gordon was born in Poughkeepsie, NY and grew up playing every sport he could, excelling in baseball. After playing baseball for the army and working as a surveyor during the Korean War, he returned home and married the love of his life, Frances Norton to whom he was married for 57 years. They moved to Lexington, KY to help staff the brand new IBM plant where Gordon worked for 34 years before retiring, and then for five more years as a consultant. He worked in research and development where he contributed to the development of the first inkjet printer by IBM.
Gordon was a loving father who coached his sons’ baseball teams for years. Later he served years as the secretary/treasurer of the Beltline Bowling League where he enjoyed bowling every Tuesday. Gordon was also an avid golfer and picked up watercolor painting after retirement. Gordon was friendly with everyone and was universally loved. We enjoyed his presence with us longer than most people get to enjoy a parent or grandparent, and we will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held at Clark Legacy Center (601 E. Brannon Rd., Nicholasville, KY) on Saturday, August 2 from 9:00-11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will
follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Thomson Hood Veteran Center.
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?””John 11:25-26 ESV
