Lawrence Oscar Brockett, 93, passed away on his birthday August 11, 2012, at his home in Boise, ID with his loving wife by his side. Larry was born in Milford, IL to Ada and Oscar Brockett. He was one of eleven children. The family had some very difficult times living through the depression, but their strong bonds of love kept them going. Larry joined the Navy Coast Guard in Aug. 1939-1945 and went to school to become a Radioman. He married Dorothy McIntyre and they had three children: Jim, Gary, and Melissa. After the war, Larry had several businesses and later worked as an appliance distributor. Dorothy passed away in 1970. Larry met Lindra Cox when he moved to the Monterey, CA area. They were married in 1981 and Larry acquired a stepson, Colin Cox. On Lindra’s vacations from teaching, they were able to do a lot of traveling. Larry especially loved their trips in the motorhome to see the United States and to go on camping and fishing trips. He is survived by his wife, Lindra; his children Jim Brockett (Jan) of Boise, ID; Gary Brockett of Placerville, CA; Melissa Del Buco (Richard) of Willits, CA; Colin Cox (Monique) of Sandpoint, ID; his sister Pearl Wingfield of Nampa, CA; mother-in-law Alene Davenport of Lavonia, MI; Grandchildren: Jamie Brewer (Byran) of Nampa, CA; Chris Brockett of Seattle, WA; Jason Brockett of Chicago, IL; Katelyn Del Buco of Seattle, WA; Christopher Cordova and Ethan Cox of Sandpoint, ID; great granddaughters Regan Flanagan of Boise, ID and Austin Brewer of Nampa, ID; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will take place Friday, Aug. 17 at 2pm at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise, ID 83714. Remembrances may be left for the family online at www.AccentFuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St., Boise, ID 83704. Family wishes to thank Dr. Guicheteau for taking care of Larry and also the wonderful St. Alphonsus nurses who were his angels.

We Entrusted Lawrence Brockett's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
