January 8th, 1953 - August 14th, 2012
David Cardona, 59, of Caldwell, died on August 14, 2012 after a battle with pneumonia . The heavens opened up for a legend in the Tejano industry. He will always be remembered as a mentor to many young Tejano artists. He was born in Sydney, Nebraska, migrated to many states including California, Texas, Arizona, and finally made Idaho his home. Idaho was where he met his loving wife, Marcella Garcia Cardona, in 1980. They were the proud parents of one daughter. David started entertaining with his music at the age of 14, and continued his plight by offering his music for different occasions. He was well known as the musician who would never say “no”. He had a big heart and was always available for weddings, funerals, quinceaneras and other celebrations. His music will resonate in the hearts of all those who knew him. He had an amazing voice, and his ability to play several instruments. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Vicente Cardona, and his sister Elizabeth Musquiz. He is survived by his wife, Marcella, children Noemi Cardona, Catalina Trejo, Thomas Crespin; 10 grandchildren;, 1 great-grandchild; brothers Jose Cardona Jr., Moses Cardona, Hector Cardona; sisters Anna Rodriguez, Cecilia Del Toro; and many nieces and nephews. David’s viewing will be held Thursday, August 16, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2012, at 12:00 PM at Rosa de Saron Spanish Assemblies of God. 323 E. Freeport, Caldwell, [corner of Freeport and 4th Avenue]. Burial will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family request that a contributions be made to Wells Fargo Bank in the name of Marcella Garcia.
