Donald Wall Galloway, 83, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011, at a local care center in Caldwell, Idaho. Don was born Sept. 29, 1927, in San Francisco, CA, to Riley and Laila Galloway. He attended grade school in Oakland, CA and high school in Concord, CA. Don loved the Bay area and had a wealth of knowledge about the history and landmarks which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Don began a 60 year career at age 18 working with his mother in the family business, Laila’s Florist, in Concord. He learned all aspects of the business at a young age and became owner of the business upon his mother’s death. Don married Rosemarie Fowler in 1949 and they had two children, John Michael “Mickey”, and Karen. Don and Rosemarie later divorced. Don had a passion for classic cars and spent many hours restoring cars with his son, Mickey. He had great stories and memories of his cars and the time spent with his son. Don married Barbara Cox in 1987 and together they continued to operate Laila’s Florist until Don’s retirement in 1997. They sold Laila’s Florist in 2004 and moved to Idaho the following year to be near Barbara’s family. Don is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son Mickey Galloway and his wife Rena; his daughter Karen Snelson and her husband David; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Service Information
