William Barr William “Bill” Barr, age 73, died of a sudden heart attack on December 5, 2015 in Springfield, OR. Bill was born on June 30, 1942 in Salem, OR, to parents Karl Barr and Mary Heenan. He graduated from Serra High School in Salem, OR in 1960. He attended Notre Dame University and Portland State University briefly, before returning to Salem to wed Rosemary in 1963. He went to work for First National Bank in Salem, OR and retired as a branch manager in Eugene, OR in 1992. Bill is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his son, Jerry (wife Lisa), of Eugene, OR, his son Tom (wife Victoria) of Murrieta, CA; and his daughter, Jennifer, (husband Brian) of Lexington, KY. Five precious grandchildren also survive Bill: Aaron, Matthew, Mesa, Nathan, and Abbey. Bill was an avid golfer, and a devoted Catholic. He volunteered his time to St. Vincent de Paul as golf tournament chairman for the benefit of the children in the many programs there, and celebrated 16 years as chairman on September 11, 2015. His family and friends will always remember him as a loving, kind, and generous friend, father, husband, and grandfather. A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Thomas More Newman Center, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Thomas More Newman Center for the benefit of the students’ Spring 2016 Mission Trip.
