Larry was born on June 24, 1939 in Oregon City, Oregon to Fred and Esther (Wormdah) Peter. Larry was raised on a farm on Meridian Road in Aurora, Oregon. He attended Ninety-One grade school and graduated from Canby Union High School in 1957. On June 27, 1959 Larry married Trudi Mae Giger at Zoar Lutheran Church in Canby, Oregon. They moved to San Francisco while Larry attended SF College of Mortuary Science. From 1960 to 1963 they lived in Albany where Larry was employed at Fortmiller-Fredrickson Funeral Home. In 1963 they moved to Salem where Larry worked at Virgil T Golden Mortuary. In 1970 Larry returned to the "homeplace" where he grew up on Meridian Road in Aurora. He took over the farm where he was raised after the passing of his step-father, and soon after started a nursery business. As Peters Meridian Nursery grew over the years Larry and Trudi had the opportunity to visit the east coast retail stores that sold their plants, and many lasting friendships were made. Larry retired in 2004 and his son, Bill and wife, Jill, managed the nursery until it sold in 2012. In 1991 Larry bought property on the Deschutes River in Bend and in 2000 had a home built there. They were able to spend six months of the year enjoying Central Oregon weather and trips to fish Lava Lake. Many good memories were shared there with family and friends. Fishing was his favorite pastime and an annual trip to Diamond Lake with friends and family was a highlight for him for over 30 years. Larry and Trudi moved to Canby in 2012, and here he enjoyed his yard and garden. He was know in the family for making great dill pickles, homemade sauerkraut and applesauce. Larry and Trudi had two sons, William "Bill" Peters (Jill) of Canby, and their sons Luke Peters, Aurora and Jake Peters, Vancouver, WA. Their other son, Brian Peters (deceased), was the father of Zach Peters of Canby, and Molly Koenning (Kyle), and two great grandsons, Brant and Jackson Koenning of Portland, TX. Larry was also "Poppa" to Aubree Petit Weigel of Canby. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 11:00 at the Canby Funeral Chapel in Canby, Oregon.
