Yvonne Olsson

Yvonne Olsson Yvonne Olsson (1935-2011) Yvonne Olsson died of cancer at her home in Eugene on October 10th, surrounded by her family. She was 76. Yvonne was born September 4, 1935 in Thorhult Township, Minnesota to Helmer and Lila Swensen. She attended Wartburg College in Iowa before moving to Oregon, where she worked for 1st National Bank of Oregon and the Coquille Chamber of Commerce. She married Elliott "Ole" Olsson on May 7th, 1961 in Gardnerville, Nevada. Yvonne and Ole were happily married for 50 years, during which they raised two children of their own and provided a warm and welcoming "home away from home" for many others. A loving and devoted grandmother, Yvonne derived much joy from attending her grandson's sporting events and recitals. Yvonne will be remembered for a lifetime of loving service to others. She devoted her countless volunteer hours supporting local education as a District 4J School Board member, to Central Lutheran Church in many capacities, and to numerous causes for the betterment of her community. Survivors include her husband, Ole Olsson; a son and daughter-in law, Ike and Jodie Olsson of Eugene; a daughter, Delila Olsson of Lake Oswego; three grandsons, Elliott, Benjamin, and Samuel; a sister, Barbara Rosenogle of Lebanon; and brother, Richard Swensen of Brownsville. A Memorial Service will be held Sat., October 22, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Central Lutheran Church in Eugene. Memorial contributions can be made to the Central Lutheran Church Music Program and the Eugene Mission.
