Leavitt Thomas Thatcher
September 1st, 1926 - November 28th, 2022
Leavitt Thomas Thatcher, 96, passed away November 24th 2022 on Thanksgiving morning. He was born September 1st, 1926 in Eden Arizona to Marion and Edith Thatcher. He was one of five brothers. Leavitt graduated from Chandler High School where he met the love of his life, Joyce Hunsaker. They had eight children but lost two at birth. After many years milking cows and working on a dairy farm, he went back to college at ASU and graduated with high honors with a teaching degree. He taught 21 years at Chandler high school. He is a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various callings, mostly as an organist. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, three daughters, Judith, Lynn and Janis Thatcher, a granddaughter BreAnne Ferrin, daughter-in-law Beverly Thatcher and son-in-law Melvin Hakala. Leavitt is survived by Edith (Leonard) Lamb, Clyda (Michael) Morris, Dennis (Debbie) Thatcher, Jerold Thatcher, Karen (Mark) Ferrin, 21 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held for Leavitt on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 1100 North Cooper Road, Gilbert, Arizona at 10:30 a.m., with a viewing before the service from 9:00am to 10:15am. Interment will be at the city of Mesa Cemetery on December 5th at 10am Cemetery Details City of Mesa Cemetery 1212 N.
