Meldrum Mortuary & Crematory
Mark Robert Marshall
August 5th, 1963 - April 14th, 2022
Mark Robert Marshall was born on August 5th, 1963, in Ogden, Utah. His parents were in the process of moving their family to Phoenix Arizona, and that is where Mark spent his childhood. As a teenager, Mark was involved in the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Mark attended and graduated from West High School in Central Phoenix. He was a musician in high school, focusing on playing the French Horn, and then also learned to play guitar. He remained passionate about music for the rest of his life. Mark was also active in many clubs and enjoyed being on the wrestling team. Mark attended Arizona State University for a few years and took a wide variety of jobs including being a Security guard at hotel and working for the Arizona Science center. In 1987, Mark traveled to Portland, Maine and worked for a science center in Portland for a few years. He then lived for several years in the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana. Mark moved back to Phoenix in the mid 1990's. He was a friendly, kindhearted person who made friends with people from many walks of life. He became known as a performance artist, excelling in the Slam Poetry area, winning contests, and gaining audiences throughout the valley. Sadly, the pandemic shut down live performances and so he focused more efforts on writing poetry and other memoirs. Mark is survived by his Mother, Joan, his 4 sisters (Kaylene Roedel, Maureen Haehnel, Marla Stringham, and Jan Sanderson) his brother, Kevin, and several nieces and nephews.
