Marie Mildred Hagy

Marie Mildred Hulverson was born on June 19, 1932, in Flint, Michigan. She was the fourth child of Mildred and William Hulverson. At 14 years old, she met the love of her life, Loyd Hagy, and they were married 4 years later. Loyd and Marie were married for 64 years. Marie stayed home and raised their six children; Glen, Randy, Marilyn, Marsha, Karen, and Laurie. Having six children to take care of kept her busy for many years. She spent lots of time sewing clothes and teaching her daughters to sew for themselves. After cooking for a family of eight for so many years, she was never good at cooking for less than 5 and thought everything tasted better with a little butter. Christmas wasn't complete without five different kinds of homemade cookies and candy. Marie's favorite pastime was knitting. She made an afghan or a knit animal for everyone she liked. She would crochet when she had to but really preferred knitting. A great day would include knitting, Bonanza, and a Vernors. She made and painted lots of ceramics. In her later years, she spent most of her time coloring and trying to win big with scratcher tickets! Loyd and Marie were not only lucky enough to have six children but also 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. At the age of 88, Marie Hagy passed away on February 13, 2021. She is loved and will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
