Mildred Lenore Coon
May 8th, 1917 - February 17th, 2013
Mildred Lenore "Miki' Coon of Canby, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the age of 95. She was born May 8, 1917, in Seattle to William and Logia Latimer. She attended St. George Grade School in Seattle and attended high school in Puyallup, Washington. She attended the Cornish School of Art in Seattle and Oregon State University. On May 6, 1938, she married Gerorge Stuermer in Puyallup. They had four children. George died in 1973. In April 1968, she married Donald Coon in Tempe, Arizona. He also preceded her in death. Before marrying, she worked in design for I Magnins. She also designed for Nicholson's Millinery store. She served as president of Albany's Springhill Country Club and enjoyed travel, including trips to Europe, Fiji and Africa. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader and taught art lessons. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic church in Albany, and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Canby. Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Bloodgood, of Gig Harbor, Washington, and Susan Gordon, or Canby; sons, Dave Stuermer, of Vancourver, Washington and Terrence Stuermer of Portland; stepchildren, Jane Hollar, of Lakewood, Washington, Daren Dobson, of Union, Washington, and Donald Coon, of Honolulu; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be held Thursday, February 21, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at Canby Funeral Chapel. There will be viewing for family and friends following that till 8:00PM. A Requiem Mass will be held Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Canby, Oregon, Fr. John Waldron officiating. There will be a luncheon served following the Mass at Dowd Hall, everyone is welcome. Private Family interment will be at Willamette Memorial Park, Albany, Oregon @ 3:00 PM Friday, February 22. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick's St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank or Maryknoll Missions. Arrangements entrusted to Canby Funeral Chapel. www.canbymolallafuneralchapels.com
