Jerry W. Mason
September 12th, 1942 - December 21st, 2014
Jerry Wayne Mason was born on the family farm in Everton, Missouri on September 12, 1942. He died on December 21, 2014 at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona due to complications from lung surgery in July. Preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Ruth; brothers, Jim and Harold; sister, JoEllen; and his grandson, Cole. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jane; sons Craig (Dawn), Tim (Susan), Drew (Jessica), and Matt (Patti); grandchildren Ashley, Andrew, Carly, Corey, Sean, Joel, Avery, Ethan and Alana; and great-granddaughter, Krystian. In high school, Jerry lettered in football, basketball and track. Musically talented also, he was in the marching band and a smaller dance band. He was so busy, his mother often had to milk the cows for him. He attended Southwest Missouri State for 2 years, and then entered the U.S. Navy, where he served for 2 years and was stationed in San Diego. Jerry started his business career in the insurance industry and after 16 years went to work for his brother Jim's company, Mace, in southern California. When Jim sold Mace, Jerry and Joe, his nephew, started Mason Flow Controls in Anaheim, California, which they later sold to Parker Hannifin. Parker moved it to Tucson and it became Partek. Jerry retired in 2008 after 20 years, as their marketing manager, but stayed on as a consultant for 4 more years to work on special projects. Jerry was an avid sports fan and enjoyed coaching youth baseball for many years, while his sons were playing. He was a loyal spectator for all sports at the University of Arizona. His personal sport favorites were fishing, hunting and lots of golf. He was a Rotarian and president of 2 rotary clubs and a Paul Harris fellow. He lived a life well-traveled for business and pleasure and made friends everywhere he went. He had an unforgettable deep voice, was generous in every way and will be greatly missed by family, friends and others fortunate to have known him. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for February 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Brings Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway in Tucson, Arizona.
