Tribute Marlene Rae (Domenico) Tibbitts Marlene Rae Tibbitts, age 82, passed away on February 4, 2020 under the kind care of Trucare Community at Longmont United Hospital. She resided in Longmont for the past 20 years. Marlene was born at the Bohm mine, in the Firestone/Frederick area on July 21, 1937. Her parents were Eugene Domenico and Catherine Jackson of Frederick, Colorado. She was previously married to Norman Bertron and had 3 children with him. She married Jimmy Tibbitts in 1981 and they have been together ever since. In the mid 60’s, Marlene was a partner in Exquisite Enterprises, it was a joint family enterprise that eventually expanded as Trophies by Exquisite in the early 70’s and moved to Westminster. There she ran the business with Penny Danialoff and eventually Jeri Priest. She was an independent, hard working woman and put a lot of hours and pride into her business. In 1979, Jimmy came along and helped her expand the business into Exquisite Custom Designs (see a theme here?). The company evolved from awards and trophies, to screen printing, embroidered corporate apparel and custom motorsports apparel for NASCAR, NHRA, Sports Car Club of America, Indy Cars, and Boat racing. Marlene had a big role in working with the custom apparel division. She was able to travel and meet all sorts of characters during this part of her life. Coming from a small town, it really helped her confidence and she made a lot of friends from all over the country during this time of her life. In 1987, Marlene and Jimmy sold the business and moved to El Paso Texas, where they became consultants with the Tony Lama Boot Company. After a few years of that, they started another manufacturing business – Concepts 2000, which they ran until retirement. Post retirement, Marlene tended to her parents and great aunt. She took care of them until they passed. She also helped out her son Chris and daughter LeiAnne with their businesses when they needed extra hands. She was an excellent cook and we all looked forward to Sunday spaghetti dinners and many cooking events. You never left her home hungry or empty handed as she always had leftovers to hand out. She enjoyed politics and on quite a few occasions, took to sparring with other family members about her opinions. She loved animals and had two special dogs, both cocker spaniels. Sasha traveled everywhere with them and after she was gone, they got Molly- who was her buddy until the end. She loved her family and did everything she could for them. She was extremely generous and if we needed anything- she would do whatever she could to help. She was a very special woman and loved by so many. We will miss her immensely. She is survived by her husband Jimmy, sister Beverly Bertron, son Steve Bertron (Sara), daughter LeiAnne Koch (Steve), daughter-in-law, Gena Bertron, 12 beloved grandchildren and 4 great-children, and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Deceased family includes her parents, son, Chris Bertron, brother in-law Joseph Bertron, niece Joni Bertron, and step-sons Wendell Tibbitts and Wade Tibbitts. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to TRU Community Care @ trucare.org or the Longmont Humane Society at Longmonthumane.org.
