Obituary AMBER LYNN POMERLEAU August 18, 1989 August 30, 2021 How does one deal with this unimaginable task; facing this blank sheet of paper while being surrounded by photos of our beautiful young daughter, our sister, our dear Auntie Amber, dog-mom and nurse, gone from our lives far too soon. How is it possible to capture, on this empty page, the essence of the short, yet so rich and multi-colored life of this broadly talented young woman? Ambers passion for nursing took her from the cancer treatment centers of Childrens Hospital in Seattle to working with her beloved bald-headed beauties (as she affectionately referred to her dear patients at Childrens Hospital in Denver). She even had her head shaved one year (along with her father) as a part of the Saint Baldricks fund-raising event for Childhood Cancer Research. From there she transitioned to compassionate case management at Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton where she became a part of a family of co-workers. Her work family had these comments to share with us about Amber: Amber was such an amazing person and a fabulous friend. Im sure there are many accolades that come to mind when you think of her but here are a few of mine: Amazing nurse, caring, compassionate, hard worker, smile that light up a room, genuine, funny, great friend and dog mom! I am heartbroken over the loss of Amber. She was one of the best nurses I have ever worked with she was also a very good friend, someone I looked forward to seeing every day at work. Amber was a true angel who touched so many lives with her kind and caring spirit. It was such an honor getting to work with Amber and learn from her. She was the most amazing nurse and such a strong person; she will live on in all of our memories. Outside of the work environment, Amber was a lover of the outdoors, she longed to breathe the fresh mountain air, rejoice in the sounds of the wind in the tall pines and the music of the mountain streams through high country meadows. Times spent camping with her dad and smom and fishing in their boat were a delight to her. The picture of her here over my desk as I write this is of her holding the prized 10-pound 2 oz rainbow trout that she caught just a year ago, using only an ultra-light rod and 6-pound test line! The smile on her face is contagious. She was a lover of photography, and our walls are decorated with the artistic photos she took of flowers, scenic landscapes, and glorious Fall colors . Ambers dear life companion, confidant, and ever willing, listening ear was her sweet little white Maltese named Ollie. He was with her through thick and thin and she was his ever patient, loving dog-mom. She had a nanny cam installed in his doggy room so that she could keep tabs on him throughout the workday and talk to him so that he would not get lonely while she was away. He is fortunate to get to live now with her little sister, Megan, who will take wonderful care of him. Some of Ambers favorite times were those spent with her young nieces and nephews. All of them adored their Auntie Amber and she always commented that being an auntie was the BEST! First it was the twins, Jeremy and Jacob Freund, for whom she was a much sought-after babysitter and favorite playmate. They remember playing soccer with her in the backyard and they recall that she was a wicked good goalie! Then along came Camille and Brogan Thompson, for more play, babysitting and cherished memories. Then followed little Jaxon Freund in Missouri, who Amber traveled across the country twice, in the first six months of his life, to snuggle with. And most recently, arrived her little newborn niece, Miss Evergreen Ann, the absolute delight of her heart! Every inch of Ambers home was decorated with photos of her with all of these. They will miss her incredible games, and her knack for coming up with the most remarkable, individualized, creative and educational gifts EVER. I have not yet mentioned that she was the dearest daughter and then, as a young adult, friend, to her smom, Norma Pomerleau and her dad, Steven Pomerleau, that any parents could hope for. Norma will miss their annual concert visits to the Nutcracker and Manheim Steamroller and especially remembers Casting Crowns at Red Rocks under the stars. Above all, Amber shared a special bond with her dad. Countless times they found themselves, up the Poudre Canyon, with their bare feet in the water, talking for hours. Even at 32 years old, she was still Daddys Little Girl. She was an honor student all through school, with awards and accolades, enjoying soccer and music along the way as well. Amber loved cheering on the CSU mens basketball team with her Nanna Pike and her parents. We were blessed to attend Timberline Church with her until her career took her to Seattle, then Denver, and we loved sharing the music and the powerful messages by Paster Dary. While she attended University in Greeley, studying to become an RN, she was a part of several Bible study groups and fellowship groups there that meant a great deal to her. Having gotten her CNA license while still in high school, she was able to work throughout her college years, covering many of her expenses while getting valuable nursing experience. Amber was always hardworking and ambitious. All of this and I still have not begun to scratch the surface of the character and personality of Miss Amber Pomerleau. Amber was a loving sister to her brothers, Nate and Robbie and enjoyed being a part of milestones in their lives. Amber had an amazing relationship with each of her sisters, Ashley, Megan, and Rachael. Rachael and Amber shared a special bond of fun and joy that was the envy of all who knew them. Whether driving around listening to music, having a fierce Yahtzee battle, or traveling to visit one another, wherever they were living at the time, the times spent together were such precious memories for them both. Amber dearly loved her sister Megan and looked forward to every minute she got to spend with her. Throughout her life, the one that knew her best was her sister Ashley. Ashley and Amber shared a bond that ran deeper than most siblings ever experience. It was a special bond that came from their support of each other through all that life threw their way. Even through five years of living thousands of miles apart, Ashley and Amber still maintained a close relationship. They were always each others person. When Ashley met and married her soul mate Jarrod, Amber became incredibly close to him as well, and they spent valuable time together as a family. If this Obituary seems unfinished, it is intentionally so because the best comments will come from the other family members and the friends and coworkers of Amber who will write their thoughts and remembrances here. Please feel free to add yours if you feel led to do so. Her life here among us was short, but her memory and her legacy will continue on in our hearts, our minds and all the memories of those special times that we enjoyed with her.
