Obituary Charles Lee Chaney died peacefully at home after a long illness on May 15, 2018 at the age of 74. Charles or Buz as he was called by his friends was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Buz was a star basketball player in high school and garnered a scholarship to Boston College where he earned a degree in mathematics. After college he and his new wife studied Spanish and joined the Peace Corps. spending time in Costa Rica. On his first job, he learned to be a programmer and followed that path for the rest of his career.......mostly in manufacturing settings. In the seventies, he relocated to California to be closer to his children. Throughout his life he enjoyed sports and participated in basketball industrial leagues and later in life played racquetball, USTA Tennis and finally Pickleball in Monterey. Buz is survived by his wife Donna of Pacific Grove, his 2 children Tracy Iseler of Georgetown, D.C. and David Chaney of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, his sister Pat Savage of Catonsville, Maryland, grandchildren Max and Elizabeth Iseler of Georgetown, as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 pm on June 9th at La Selva Beach Community Church, 26 Florido Ave., La Selva Calif. in Santa Cruz County. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the SPCA, 1002 Monterey Salinas Hwy, Salinas, CA 93908.
