Steven Lane Shortridge
October 22nd, 1940 - April 8th, 2016
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the unexpected passing of Steve Shortridge from natural causes at his home in Pine Grove, CA. at the age of 75. He was a dear friend to many and is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dianne Shortridge; their two sons, Brant and Chad Shortridge; daughter-in-law, Laura Shortridge; grand-daughter, Jenna; brothers, Byron and Greg Shortridge; and many extended members of the Shortridge and Williams families who had a special place in his heart. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Sr. and Helen Shortridge; oldest brother, Fred Shortridge, Jr. and sister, Joyce. After his birth in Vallejo and being raised in Lake County, Steve's family moved to West Sacramento where he graduated from James Marshall High School in 1959. In 1961 he married his high school sweetheart, Dianne Williams. After living and working in Sacramento for several years the Shortridge's moved to Santa Rosa where Steve worked 35 years for Santa Rosa Paper Company. Steve belonged to several organizations, including the Elks, Clampers, The Masons, as well as the Shriners Oriental Band and the Shriners Clowns. Steve enjoyed camping in his RV, fishing, horseshoes and entertaining family and friends with his jokes, and as a ventriloquist with his little buddy Dexter. He spent much of his retirement in Pine Grove with Dianne, and their dog Max. With both families close by they also enjoyed traveling and made great memories with family and friends in locations such as Lake Tahoe, Bodega Bay, Pismo Beach, San Diego, Arizona, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico. He was loved by all and will be missed dearly. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Hall in Sutter Creek, CA. at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriners Children's Hospital at 2425 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, CA 95817 would be appreciated.
