David Ratliff

David Vincent Ratliff Jr. passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife of over thirty years on June 27, 2021 in Monterey, CA. David was born on August 23, 1939 in San Pedro, CA. He resided in California most of his life and for the past twelve years in Salinas, CA. He attended Helix High School in San Diego, CA and at the age of eighteen move away from home and began his career in furniture sales, advertisement sales and real estate. He was extremely motivated and was hired by Water Systems Cleaning, and in 2000 purchased the company. He attended the University of California, Santa Cruz to receive additional certification in environmental management. After a long and successful career as a business owner, David retired at age 77. David was a dedicated, supportive, and loving father. He spent hours with his son Alex whom he made his priority, from countless hours in the batting cage, baseball practice and family fishing trips. He was a caring and loving husband who always made sure his family was taken care of and always had a way of making everything feel special. David was a passionate fisherman and outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed taking his boat to the McLeod River, Lake Shasta, Caples Lake, Silver Lake, etc. and received multiple fishing trophies. One of his most cherished moments was a fishing trip to British Columbia with his friends from Scotts Valley, CA. He was also an avid golfer and loved anything relating to outdoor activities including road trips and long drives in his Jeep. He loved household carpentry and projects and also enjoyed playing the guitar. He enjoyed watching Deadly Catch and Wicked Tuna and was a San Francisco Giants Fan. David is survived by his wife of over thirty years, Irmina Ratliff, Mother-in-law, Marietta Aquino, brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews, great-niece, and great-nephew. He is preceded in death by his son; Alex David Ratliff, father; David Ratliff Sr., mother; Irene Hicks Ratliff and brother; Dawaine Lloyd Ratliff. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. A viewing will be held at Mission Mortuary (450 Camino El Estero, Monterey, CA 93940) on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 5:00pm followed by a rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 9, 2021 at 9:30am at San Carlos Cathedral (500 Church St, Monterey, CA 93940) followed by burial at San Carlos Cemetery and Celebration of Life at the Ratliff Residence (17759 Riverbend Road, Salinas, CA 93908).
