Gilbert Luis Peralta

We honor and celebrate the memory of Gilberto Luis Peralta, who passed away in his sleep on September 26, 2023. Gilbert was born in Peralta, New Mexico but life (and work) took him to many other places. Including Pueblo Colorado, the birthplace of his late wife Priscilla. Gilbert dropped out of school at a young age so that he could work to help support his mom and siblings. While he may have lacked a formal education, he was nobody’s fool, and his quick wit and personality endeared him to many. He spent most of his life employed as a roofer, suffering under the intense New Mexican sun to provide a decent life for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work in the many buildings and homes he helped build, most notably his adobe house in Peralta, New Mexico that he built for Priscilla. Gilbert enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes with his brothers, watching the Denver Broncos, and spending time with his wife. His children are Francis Ortiz (Ludwig), David Gomez (Michelle Melendez), Luis Gomez, and Andrea Cybulski (Paul). He had multiple brothers and sisters whom he loved and cherished very much, along with many beloved nieces and nephews from Albuquerque to Pueblo, Colorado. His life revolved around his grandchildren Paloma, Kwetzpallin, Christopher, Priscilla, and his great-granddaughter Arcelia. To those who knew Gilbert, please keep him in your memories. And may his spirit live on through those he left behind.
