Judith “Judy” Rae Peterson, 85, who resided in Pueblo West, CO passed from this life on January 9, 2024. Judy was born on March 10, 1938 to Aurelia H. Anderson (Wyrwicki) and Raymond D. Anderson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She married her first love, Merle “Sam” Peterson in Milwaukee Wisconsin on May 21, 1960. They were blissfully married for 63 years and the family grew to include two terrific boys; James “Jim” and Daniel “Dan”. She was, first and foremost, a loving wife and mother. Along with being a homemaker, Judy’s professional calling in life was nurturing and caring for small children. She worked in various roles helping special needs children, teaching them to read and preparing them for their next steps. Judy was an avid reader and Scrabble player. She also loved the outdoors (just not the wind!) and she could be found walking the dog, hiking around Pueblo Reservoir, and enjoying nature. Judy was well-traveled across the US accompanying her husband Merle (Sam) on his many job sites nationwide. She enjoyed big adventures with her husband and family in Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska. In addition, Judy loved to dance and would be seen ‘cutting the rug’ in Denver to her favorite song, “Tulsa Time”. We were all blessed to have Judy in our lives, and the memories of her remain strong in our hearts. She is at peace with God now. Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Aure; and father, Ray. She is survived by her husband, Merle “Sam” Walter Peterson; and her two sons, James M. Peterson and Daniel W. Peterson; daughter in-law Vanessa Peterson; grandchildren Ryan and Alyssa Peterson; Daniel’s partner, Dante Herrera; her sister, Janet (Jan) Berzowski; and brother-in-law, Michael Berzowski of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Memorial and Interment to be determined.
