Larry Eugene Rawlinson, 78, passed away May 7, 2024, in Colorado Springs, CO surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born on January 24, 1946, in Hugo, OK to Hubert and Marjorie (Nutt) Rawlinson.

He spent his early childhood years on various Army bases, including time in Austria and Germany. When his dad retired at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, that became home for the family. Larry graduated from Widefield High School, Security, CO in 1964, where he was elected Student Council President his senior year and was a member of the letterman club - lettering in track, football, and basketball. Larry married Rosemarie Brown in 1968 and they had a daughter, Andrea, born in 1973.  They later divorced but he remained good friends with Rose and her husband, Ron Blair. He married Sandra Shrull in 1986 in Columbia, MO. Larry and Sandy later moved to Kansas City, MO where their son, Joshua, was born in 1997.He worked in several careers including a Police officer for the Manitou Springs Police Department and at St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs working with their computer department. He settled on a career in nursing (like his mom, wife Sandy and daughter Andrea). He started at Beth-El college of Nursing in Colorado Springs and attended the same time as his wife and daugher. He graduated with a BSN from the University of Missouri. During his years as an R.N., he worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center on the Surgical Floor and in the Operating room as a circulating nurse.Larry’s faith and his relationship with the Lord was very important to him, and Larry and Sandy were both members of Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, where they were involved in various ministries and activities.

Larry enjoyed singing on the praise and worship team. He enjoyed watching sports including his Denver Broncos, but also became a Chief’s fan while living in Kansas City, as Sandy loved her Chiefs. He loved to discuss politics and current events! His strong sense of humor was apparent to anyone who knew him, and he kept it until the end of his life. He and Sandy loved to travel and spend time with family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sandy; parents, Hubert and Marjorie Rawlinson; in-laws, Bruce and Eunice Schrull; brother-in-law, James Shirley; and nephew, Christopher Lawrence.

Larry is survived by daughter, Andrea Rawlinson Johnson (Brian); son, Joshua Rawlinson; sisters, Suzanne Rawlinson Shirley and Catherine Rawlinson Lawrence (Larry); granddaughter, Madeline Johnson (fiancé’ Caleb Smith); grandson, Aidan Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
