Carolynn Utter
November 12th, 1946 - September 19th, 2020
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother, wife, sister, and friend, Carole Utter (Guidi). She was called home to heaven on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at her home in Melbourne, Florida. Carole was born on November 12, 1946 to Leon and Caroline Guidi (DiGiacomo), in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Carole was the oldest of 4 children. Her father was in the military and because of this, she traveled a lot as a young girl. She called many states home including Deleware, New Mexico, and her favorite, Hawaii. It was there that her love of the beach began. After the military, the family settled at the Jersey shore and that was where she would spend her formative years. She attended Atlantic City High School and made many life-long friends there. She really enjoyed dancing during these years and even started a club called Carole's Dance Club. She was an excellent dancer. Appearing on Ed Hurtzes Show, and even danced the Twist with Chubby Checker on Bandstand. Her love of music and dancing stayed with her her entire life. She adored Motown, and her all time favorite was Diana Ross. Elvis gets honorable mention. After high school, Caole would meet the love of her life. She met Joe one kismet night at the Melody Lounge in Atlantic City. Their love story would last for 47 years. They were together for the rest of her life. Together they had 5 children, Teresa, Kim, Christine, Joe, and Melanie. She was the glue that held the family together. Over the years, she held many different jobs. But the one that she enjoyed the most was in Nursing. She worked in geriatrics and really bonded with her patients. During her later years, she and her daughter Kim were Co-directors of their own beauty pageant system. She loved this time in her life. Everyone involved in the pageant industry referred to her as Miss Carole. She was beloved by all. She was still friends to this day with people who competed in the industry. More than anything though, she loved her family. She enjoyed spending summer days with the family at the Lake. Many, many wonderful memories were made there. Unforgettable times. She also enjoyed hitting the local casinos with her sister Janice and her father. She was really good at Blackjack. Bingo was also one of her pastimes. Many a fun night was spent going for those cover-all jackpots. She and Joe were avid bowlers during this time as well. They belonged to a league and really had fun on those bowling nights. But those who knew her also knew how much she loved going to the beach and lounging in the pool. She was most definitely a sun-worshipper! Relaxing by the pool was her all-time favorite thing. That, and lobster! As she grew older and was unable to bowl, Carole discovered new and different things to enjoy. She loved spending time on her computer and using Facebook. Her posts were legendary. She loved being able to keep up with everyone and to Facetime friends and family. Her Facebook was something that she really, really enjoyed. There she liked showing her support for Donald Trump. Carole also loved to garden. She and Joe had spent the last 5 years turning their Florida home and yard into a tropical oasis. She enjoyed nurturing and watching her plants grow. She took such great pleasure in it. And I dare a weed to show it's face in her garden! Carole also LOVED sports. Her teams were the Mets and the Broncos. She adored her Mets and chants of "Let's go Mets" were regularly heard around the house. Carole was a animal lover through and through. Her dogs were her babies. Twinkie, Terra-Baby, Cocoa, and her present dog, Shadow. All were beloved by her. They were all treated like family. Being a Grams to her grandchildren was the source of such pride for her. She doted on them and relished in the role. The kids were lucky to have such a special Grams. She was close to them all. Carole had a way of endearing herself to so many people. I can't count how many friends would end up calling her Mom. A well deserved title. She was that special. It's hard to put into words how loved she was and how great this loss is for her entire family. We can only take solace knowing that she is now with her beloved parents and family that had passed before her. She was predeceased by her parents Caroline and Leon, her precious sisters, Janice and Kathleen, her niece, Caroline Juniewicz, and her beautiful granddaughter, Alisha Clayton. She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Joseph Utter. Her children, Teresa (Lyle) Williams of Melbourne, Kimberly Clayton of Melbourne, Christine (Anthony) Caponegro of EHT, NJ, Joseph (Mary) Utter Jr. of Glenn Allen, Virginia, and Melanie (Dan) Maturano, of Folsom, NJ. Her brother, Leon Guidi Jr. Her grandchildren, Chanel Clayton, Amberlynn Williams, Jonathan Maturano, Cody Keich, Joseph Utter, Jacob Maturano, Kayla Kennedy, and Gia Caponegro. All of whom adored her. She is also survived by 2 great-grand children, Cameron Jordan and baby Emerald. They all ment the world to her. She is also survived by her beloved nephew, William Juniewicz of NJ. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for all of the cards, flowers, and well wishes extended during this most difficult time. Words cannot express how much it means to all of us. The world is a little less bright without her in it. We love you to the moon and back.
