Luis "Quison" Ortiz

Luis “Quison” Ortiz of Dundee, Florida passed away on April 27, 2021 at his residence. He was 85. He was born on August 17, 1935 in Puerto Rico to Victor and Matilda Ortiz and moved to Dundee from the Bronx, New York in 2010. Luis worked for the Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx for some 15 years before retiring. He was a member of the Brooklyn Tabernacle and a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as an airplane mechanic. Also known to his Grand children as 'Papi'. Some of his interests included listening to Jazz music and watching western movies. He was a proud New York sports fan and loved watching games especially the Mets, Jets and Knicks. Luis treasured his family dearly. Luis Proudly assisted his wife Norma in her work with the New York state senate including being the grill master at all the sunset BBQ's events and fundraisers. He was an airplane fanatic that always wanted to pay homage to the US Airforce. Luis was predeceased by his wife, of 47 years, Norma Ortiz; parents, Victor and Matilda; daughter and son-in-law, Tina, and Frankie, as well as his 6 siblings. He is survived by his children, Anthony “Tony” Ortiz and his wife, Venus, Luis “Peewee” Ortiz, Jr. and his wife, Debra, Patrick Ortiz, Sabrina Robinson and her husband, Richard and Migdalia Ortiz. Papi also leaves behind, 12 grandchildren Christina, Enrico, Demetrius, Amaris, Darius, Matthew, De'Andre, Donald, Dominique, D'Angelo, Dearon, and Deon and 15 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 2:00 pm until the funeral at 3:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Haines City, Florida. Final resting place will take place the following Monday at 10:30 am besides his loving wife at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida
