José Humberto Rivera
December 14th, 1944 - January 10th, 2022
José Humberto Rivera, 77, of Kissimmee, Florida passed away on January 10, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 14, 1944 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Juan Rivera Ortiz and Esther Arroyo Torres. José proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Army, enlisting on December 14, 1965 and was honorably discharge on November 30, 1971 with the rank of SP4. While in the service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Rifle. José started his own welding shop in Puerto Rico where he was the owner and operator, he then moved to Massachusetts where he worked for Dexter Corporation for 10 years doing industrial repairs, later moving to Florida where he started working for the Marriott Hotel for 10 years as a special project engineer and last, he worked as a plumber for 35 years until his retirement in 2011. José was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Poinciana, Florida. José was a great mentor and loved to share his love for fishing with anyone that had a passion for it. He enjoyed playing Dominoes, watching Western Movies, dancing “Salsa”, and listening to “música típica and trios”. José was a jack of all trades and he had a heart of gold and was always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Esther. José leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, of 53 years, Fredesvinda Rivera; son, José H. (Evgenia Voloshchuk) Rivera, Jr. of Poinciana, FL; daughters, Winda (Jennifer Crowe) Rivera of Ocoee, FL, Enid Aydin (Luis) Maldonado of St. Cloud, FL, Jeamaly (Ricardo Rafael) Rivera of SanJuan, PR, and Janel Rivera of Ponce, PR; brothers, Rafael Rivera of Carolina, PR, Jorge Luis (Chigüi) Rivera of Leesburg, FL, and Vicente (Cindy) Rivera of Tampa, FL; sisters, Lydia Colón of Groveland, FL, Maria Rivera of St. Cloud, FL, Nilda (Ivan) Cruz of Orlando, FL, Nita (José) Mediavilla of Deltona, FL, Teresa (Francisco) Cintrón of Ponce, PR, and Annie (Edgar) Colón of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Alexander Juan (Alicia) Torres, David Torres, Samuel Jose Rivera, Dariana Vidal, Jorge Luis Vega and Ricado Jeniel Rivera; and great grandchildren, Isaiah Juan Torres, Ava Isabela Torres, Yadel Josiah Torres, and Julinet Vega. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. follow by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. all at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL.
