Andrew Bakolia, 95, passed away early Saturday morning, April 24, 2010. Andrew was born September 10, 1914 in Sperhogia, a small city in Greece. He was the son of Efstathios and Evanthia Bakolias. Andrew was the third of eight sons. Andrew and several of his brothers started a very successful auto repair business in Greece at a young age. In 1943, Andrew and Helen Zannos were married and moved to the United States. They settled in Pennsylvania then New York City where Andrew started his own auto repair business. He was also an early member of the American-Hellenic Association and became well known over the years for his kind personality and generosity. Andrew was always one of the first people to assist people in need. That trait was passed on to his beloved son Peter Bakolia. In 1999 Andrew and Helen moved to Melbourne, Florida to be closer to their son Peter. He is preceded in death by their only son Peter Bakolia. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Helen Bakolia. Other survivors include his grandchildren Drew Bakolia and Julie Bakolia, and nephews John Zannos, Steven Zannos, George Bakolia, Stathi Bakolias of Athens Greece and Stathi Bakolias of Kalamata Greece and Evanthia Moustou. Special Thanks for the love and support from Sam & Elaine Tsirambidis, Adrienne Zannos, Tony & Maria Diana, Tony Diana , Lucia Romero , Sonia Fakatselis, Fran Hadjilogiou and so many others for there constant concern. The Family extended its sincere gratitude to The Hospice volunteers and especially the dedication of the nursing staff of William Childs Hospice House whose outstanding and compassionate care was a wonderful blessing. Andrew was a faithful member of the Greek Orthodox Church. On the morning of Andrew's passing, the church bells in his native city of Sperhogia, Greece were rang in his honor. Services for Andrew will be on Wednesday April 28th 5pm-8pm at Beach Funeral Home 1689 S. Patrick Drive, Indian Harbour Beach. The Church service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 29th, at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 5965 N Wickham Rd followed by Interment ceremony at Florida Memorial Gardens.
