Allison Vanessa McComas
August 16th, 1970 - April 6th, 2021
Allison was born in the early morning of August 16, 1970, in Trenton New Jersey. She was the first redhead since her great grandmother, Gertrude Holford Macaulay. She spent her first three years living happily with her parents and sister, Aenea in Trenton. She moved to Melbourne Beach, Florida in August, 1973, when her father Thomas Macaulay was hired by Harris Corporation. She loved living in Melbourne Beach and made many friends, some of whom became lifelong friends. Allie attended Gemini Elementary, Hoover Junior High and Melbourne High School. Her many activities during those years included: dance, swim team, gymnastics and softball. After graduation from “Mel Hi,” she chose to follow her best friend, Missy Michaels, to Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. She graduated, Cum Laude with a B.S. in Education followed by a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration. In 1994, Allison married the man she had fallen in love with at college, Patrick Scott McComas, and started her family which eventually included her daughters, Madison and Caitlin and son Dakota. Always the entrepreneur, Allie, at various times, started a daycare business in her home, a daycare at church and a gum ball machine business in and around Dayton Ohio. Her family were active members of the Church of God. One of her favorite activities on the weekend was to go “garage sale-ing” Her full time jobs included working at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Keeping kids with cancer up to date on their studies, Dayton Children’s Hospital as a Patient Advocate and for a private pediatric practice. After her children were off on their own, Madison at law school and Dakota in the U.S. Coast Guard, she drew back a bit from her busy life to provide private care to an elderly person and continue providing care for lovely Caitlin, a special needs child. Allie moved back to her hometown of Melbourne Beach with Caitlin in November of 2020 and enjoyed every moment of it, reminiscing about her childhood and reacquainting with old friends and her sister Aenea until her untimely death. She brought happiness and light to all she encountered. She would light up a room with her warmth, wit, charm, beauty and especially smile. We miss her dearly.
