Joyce Elaine (Dennison) Barnes
April 8th, 1949 - May 14th, 2024
Joyce Elaine (Dennison) Barnes passed away of pancreatic cancer on May 14, 2024, in Centralia, Washington. She was born April 8, 1949, to Ella (Wolfe) Sears and Ernest Dennison in Granville, New York. The majority of Joyce’s life was spent in Vermont and Florida. She moved to Washington after her husband of 16 years, Sam P. Barnes, passed away March 6, 2009.
Professionally, Joyce had many different jobs throughout her lifetime, including General Electric in Rutland, Vermont, from which she retired.
Joyce had an impish sense of humor and enjoyed playing pranks. She was a very loyal wife, wonderful mother, caring grandma, and sweetest, most loving partner. She enjoyed trips to the casino, fishing, gardening, crocheting, knitting, and quilting.
She is survived by her very significant partner of over 12 years, David Gilfert Sr. of Centralia; sons, Thomas Kelley Jr. of Danby, Vermont, and Michael Kelley of Elma, Washington; daughter, Renee Sturdevant of Olympia, Washington; grandchildren, Scott, Collin, Makayla and Zanah; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ace, Greyson, and Clover; sister, Shirley Carpenter of Warrensburg, New York; aunt, Charlotte Wisell of Lake Luzerne, New York; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Donald Wallace; sisters, Isabelle Wallace and Zanah Perry; and son, Ronald White Jr.
A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a local animal shelter.
