April 8th, 1934 - June 13th, 2010
Dasher, Betty Keator 76, of St. Petersburg, beloved wife of Richard T. Dasher, died Sunday, June 13th at Westminster Suncoast Retirement Home. Born in Kingston, NY, she came to St. Petersburg in 1949, where she played principal flute in the Green Devil Band. Graduating in 1951, she attended University of Miami, married Richard in 1954, and received her degree in 1955. She taught music in Alexandria, VA, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Crawford County, PA, at various levels from kindergarten through college. In 1975 she received a Masters Degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. In 1985 the Pennsylvania State Education Association awarded her a Distinguished Recognition award for Innovative Teaching in Harrisburg, PA. She is survived by her husband and their four children, Richard, Randall, Kathryn, and Kenneth, nine grandchildren, and her brother, Charles Keator. A memorial service will be held at Suncoast Manor, 6909 Dr. MLK St. S. on Sunday, June 20th beginning at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 14010 Roosevelt Blvd., Suite 709, Clearwater, FL 33762, marked "In memory of Betty Dasher." Funeral arrangements are being made through Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home.
