Ormston, Mary Murphy 88, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, May 31, 2014 under hospice care. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she came here as an infant in 1925 along with her parents, the late Hugh and Margaret Murphy. She graduated from St. Petersburg College and UNC Chapel Hill and was a lifelong member of St.Paul's Catholic Church. Mary will be remembered for her great kind heart, strong faith and compassion for those who suffered. She will be equally remembered for her joyous outlook on life and the beautiful gardens she created. She is survived by daughter, Jean Ormston Messick, son-in-law, Steve Messick; grandchildren, Lauren Coppins Stevens, Lynn Coppins Wise, and John William Messick; and great-grandchildren Lane Grace Stephens and Henry Allister Wise. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred, in 2004, and by daughter, Mary Lynn Coppins in 2009. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1800 12th St N, St Petersburg on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 3:00 PM. Interment Royal Palm South Cemetery.
