Mary Kavakos Dagostino
May 1st, 1919 - March 20th, 2011
Dagostino, Mary K. 91, formally of South Pasadena, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Palm Gardens of Largo Nursing Home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she moved to St. Petersburg in 1940 where the family owned and operated Sam's Restaurant in down town St. Petersburg and the Ali Baba Restaurant / Lounge in Madeira Beach. Mary worked as a bookkeeper and teller at Florida National Bank for 30 years before retiring. She is predeceased by her parents, Sam and Anna Kavakos, sisters Helen Pepper and Becky Kavakos, brother Pete Kavakos, all of St. Petersburg and son Dr. Phillip Dagostino, Tallahassee. Mary is survived by her son, Pete Dagostino (Sharon); daughter, Cynthia Dagostino; niece, Elaine Calbeck (Jack); daughter-in-law, Rita Dagostino; grandchildren, Debra Rosenfield (David), Kim Galang (Enrique), Dr. Michael Dagostino (Tricia), Nicole and Kevin Dagostino; great grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Rosenfield, Michael and Alyssa Galang, and Alexa Dagostino. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 26th at Anderson-McQueen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice, American Cancer Society or the Leukemia Foundation.
