Morehead, Henrietta Cooke, widow of the late Colonel Louis M. Morehead, died Friday August 1, 2003. She was a former resident of Boca Raton having moved there subsequent to retiring from the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC, in 1968. There she was a member of First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Golden Harbour Yacht Club. She moved here to the Palm Shores Retirement Center in July 1995. Born in Slate Springs, Mississippi, on February 16, 1905, Mrs. Morehead spent her youth in Alabama. She was a graduate of Alabama State Teachers College and taught school in Oil City, Louisiana. She and her husband resided there until 1942 when they moved to the nation?s capital during WWII. Upon retiring from the federal government, Mrs. Morehead performed volunteer service for the American Red Cross and the US Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. She also attended the American University. Her only daughter, Diane M. Volk of St. Petersburg preceded Mrs. Morehead in death. She is survived by 2 brothers: Gaston Cooke, Mobile, AL and Hubert Cooke, Cooke Springs, Alabama, Two grandchildren, Sharon Haugen Volk, Minneapolis, and Robert H. Volk, Jr., St. Petersburg, and two great grandchildren of St. Petersburg. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center-McLeod Chapel.
