Berneice Kerr, 70, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Chillicothe, IL passed away at 10:15 A.M. Saturday, February 28, 2004 at her home. Born June 16, 1933 in Golconda, IL to Loy and Thelma Matthers Joiner. She married Alfred D. Kerr on August 19, 1951 in Piggott, AR, he predeceased her on August 31, 1974. Her parents and one brother preceded her in death. Surviving are three sisters, Shirley Andrews of Peoria, IL, Lois Jim Kuehl of Neillsville, WI, Frances Gerald Ruhnke of West Bend, WI and one brother Dale Joiner Brenda of Henderson, KY. She has one daughter, Beverly Robert Stephens of Dahinda, IL, and two sons, Brian of Chillicothe, and Gregory Nari of Sierra Vista, AZ, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. She retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 1988 last working as a Facilities Layout Planner. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chillicothe, IL. She devoted many hours to the AARP Association as a volunteer in the tax program and District Coordinator in St. Petersburg, South Pinellas Co., FL for the past 12 years. Cremation will be accorded by Anderson-McQueen Funeral Homes & Cremation Tribute Center in St. Petersburg, FL. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or to her church. Cremation rites will be at a later date at Old Home Cemetery, Golonda, Pope Co., IL. There will be private viewing for family members only. A memorial service is planned for Thursday at Point Brittany for family and friends.
