Albert D. Martineau
December 8th, 1919 - May 9th, 2015
Albert D. Martineau, 95, though missed, realized the desire of his heart on May 9, 2015 at 3:10 p.m., after succumbing from a short illness at the Glens Falls Hospital, and being immediately present with his Lord in heaven. His longing to be with his beloved wife Florence was also fulfilled, as well as being reunited with relatives and friends that preceded him in death. This included his mother Albertine, his father Damase, his three brothers Ejide, Eugene, Roland and his sisters, Lucienne and Annette. He is survived by his five children Claudette Hoffman (Peter), Raymond Martineau (Laura), Phyllis Gula (Thaddeus), Jeanne Martineau and Gisele Martineau, as well as 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Albert enjoyed making furniture well into his 90's, and was consoled by his faithful cat, Rosie. It gave Albert great pleasure to rescue teddy bears from thrift stores and re-home them with children. He served in the 36th Infantry Division in World War II, and was a devout husband and provider for his family who grew up in Chicopee, MA. He and Florence retired to St. Petersburg, Florida, following his long career from Uniroyal Tire in Chicopee. Albert loved music, and frequently signed his letters with these words of encouragement, "Keep a song in your heart." An open casket visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, St. Petersburg, FL, followed by a chapel service at 11 a.m. at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 5233 118th Avenue North, Clearwater, FL 33760. Albert was a generous and kind son, brother, husband, father, neighbor and friend. In lieu of tears, Albert's wishes are that we pray for one another to live and breathe Christ as our day of remembrance draws near.
