Haggerty, Mary E., 69, of St. Petesburg, Florida, died Thursday morning at her home after a series of illnesses. Born Mary McGrory in Brooklyn, New York, she was raised in the town of Moville in County Donegal, Ireland. In 1955, she returned to Brooklyn, where she met Bill Haggerty, her husband of 49 years, who was at her side at her death. Mary moved to St.Petersburg in 1988, and worked as a nursing assistant for many years. She loved her work and continued working until an injury forced her to retire. Mary loved Irish music, dancing, watching her soap operas and laughing with her family and friends. She was most proud of her five children, all of whom attended college and two of whom became schoolteachers. Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Haggerty, and five children: Patricia Marr of Dunedin, James of Staten Island, New York, Kevin of Port Richey, Mary Eileen of Seminole, and William of Jersey City, New Jersey. She was especially close to her daughters-in-law, Michelle and Elyse, and her son-in-law, Steve Marr. She had eight grandchildren. Anderson-McQueen Funeral & Cremation Centers-NE St. Petersburg
