Cobb, Budd Merrill, 91, of St. Petersburg died Sunday Jan. 7, 2007 at Bayfront Medical Center Hospital. Born in Flint, Michigan he attended Flint Junior College and graduated from Johns Hopkins University and was Valedictorian of his class. He is a life member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He worked for AC Spark Plugs, division of General Motors and joined the Army in 1942. He served in the Aleutions Island and Fort Sheridan, Ill. He was discharged in 1946 as First Lieutenant. He went to work for Davidson Chemical Corporation, Baltimore, MD as Internal Auditor and Regional Director of Industrial Relations. He was responsible for Labor Relations of 15 plants. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1957 to accept a position as Director of Industrial Relations ECI. He retired as Vice-President Industrial Relations in 1980. He is listed in the Who?s Who in the South and Southwest. He organized a Chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Management and became its first president. He organized the Pinellas County Personnel Association and became its first president. He was a member of the board of Associated Industries of Florida. He was a member of the Board of Bureau of National Affairs. Member of the board and served as President of Family Service Centers, then known as Family and Childrens Service. Long time member of the board of the Science Center and served as President. Member of the Board and served ad Vice-President of The United Way. Member of the board and Vice-President of the local chapter of The Red Cross. Member of the board and Vice-President of Committee of 100. Member of the General Telephone Community Advisory Board. Member of Pinellas County Personnel Board. Member of Pinellas Sherriff?s Advisory Board. Member of the Mayor?s Committee for Assistance to the Physically Impaired. Life member of the American Institute of CPA?s. Served on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for 4 years. Lectured on Labor Relations at Johns Hopkins University. He was an ardent golfer for most of his life and played in many tournaments, until he had to quit playing when he was 89. He enjoyed duplicate bridge and played in several tournaments, with his first wife. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Vinoy Golf and Country Club, The Suncoasters, and Bucketeers Yacht Club. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jewel and twin daughters, Susan Elizabeth and Mary Katherine. He is survived by his present wife, Frances Ray Cobb; his step-son, G. Westley Ray; and two grandchildren, Tyler and Rosalee Ray of Indianapolis, IN; and niece, Bonnie Laur of Merritt Island, FL. Anderson-McQueen Funeral & Cremation Centers-NE St. Petersburg
