December 8th, 1945 - January 13th, 2007
Durham, Katherine, L., ?Kathy?, 61 of St. Petersburg, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2007. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mamie and Butler Durham, both of St. Petersburg. Born in Lexington, KY, she moved to St. Petersburg with her family in 1958 from Baltimore, MD. After attending High School in Los Angeles, CA, she attended Ohio University and the University of Florida, from which she graduated in 1972 with High Honors. She practiced Architecture with the firm of C. Randolph Wedding of St. Petersburg, Rowe-Holmes Associates of Tampa, and in private practice. She was an officer in the local chapter of American Institute of Architects and took great pride in helping to beautify and expand our city. She was a member of the St. Petersburg Museum of History and the St. Petersburg Historical Society, with whom she worked to save the cities historic homes, building a beautiful, furnished scale model of one. She was an avid naturalist and passionate civic booster working tirelessly to help preserve our threatened wildlife and wetlands. She was a member of: The Science Center of Pinellas County, the Florida Audubon Society, Friends of Boyd Hill Nature Park, Friends of Weedon Island, The Florida Native Plant Society, Brooker Creek Preserve and the Pinellas chapter of The North American Butterfly Association. She is survived by her sisters, Lou Durham of St. Petersburg and Sue Levin of Bethesda, MD, a nephew Carl, and five nieces: Rachel, Katherine, Melissa, and Becky, and many friends and lives that she touched.
