Lola Jean Robinson
January 5th, 1917 - July 8th, 2015
L. Jean Robinson, 98, of Lakeland and St. Petersburg, FL passed away on July 8, 2015 at Osprey Health Care Center in St. Petersburg, FL. She was born on January 5, 1917 to Charles and Lena Fairbairn in Verona Ontario, Canada. Jean's family moved to Kansas when she was 12, and as an adult she became a naturalized citizen of the United States. She attended Central Christian College of Kansas and was a graduate of Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. She held a Bachelor of Arts Degree in education and taught elementary school for many years. Jean married Joseph H. Reid, and together they ministered in many churches. After her husband's death, Jean moved to Florida and later married Allen G. Robinson of Lakeland, FL who preceded her in death. She was a member of Cornerstone Community Church, Lakeland Light and Life Free Methodist Church, and a member and officer of the Christian Women's Club in Topeka, KS. She was also a frequent speaker for Women's Conferences in Kansas and Florida. Jean enjoyed music, singing, piano playing, painting, crafting, horseback riding and tennis. Jean is survived by her loving children, Carollyn J. and Ray Ellis of Palm Harbor, FL, Ruth E. Dadswell of St. Petersburg, FL, Marilyn Jo and Al Henrion of Pinconning, MI, and step-son, William Robinson. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Victor Fairbairn, mother, Lena Maud Vannest, and her three sisters, Roberta Harvester, Ruth Green, and Vicki Williams. Jean is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Jean will be held at Cornerstone Community Church, 6745 38th Avenue North, St. Petersburg on July 26th, 2015 at 3:00pm.
